The Bear Facts
I have raced Mercedes!!! Not bad, although the one I raced was not old. Not quite up to Italian Car standards for me though. One of my driving heroes is Fangio, he drove for Mercedes, what a man.... he raced a W196 to it's maiden victory with Kling just behind. In 1955 Moss won the British Grand Prix at Aintree in the W196. Mercedes withdrew all their cars after the Le Mans accident and did not return until 1974. For me, however, the most important fact is the top speed of the W196 was 186 mph. NOT BAD!!!!!!!
