An unusual tin plate toy car by Philip Niedermeier, one of Germany's great toy manufacturers, which produced wonderful toys, both post and pre. Second World War. Front wheel friction motor, which may have given the illusion of the pistons rising in the engine cylinders, there is rust on the front and rear bumper, missing windscreen, elastoline driver with cloth cap- missing steering wheel.
Clear lithographed engine bay. Mid blue centre colour with stripes, yellow wings and red lower body. Black tin plate seats. We would say it is based upon an Alfa Romeo of the 1950s. A Collection of four photos taken by Keith Bursden and Alan Smith in 1952 and 1953. exhibited at the Reigate Photographic Exhibition in March 1954. These photographs have been signed on the back by the photographer.
The first board (12x15ins) entitled 'Trouble' shows the Ferrari 500 F2 coming into the pits at the 1952 British Grand Prix. The driver is Nino Farina driving car No16. On the back is the signature of Keith Bursden and a certificate showing the two photos being exhibited at the Reigate Photographic Society March 1954 Exhibition. The second board (19x16ins approx) has some bending to the left hand top corner. The photos are in fine condition with no damage at all. One photo shows Ferrari No18 driven by Reg Parnell in a 375 Fi Thinwall Special at the 1952 Swiss Grand Prix, and the second shows Fangio driving a BRM V16 on 8 April 1952 at a rainy Silverstone.
