The Bear Facts
John and Maude Blackburn made their very first teddy bear in 1979.
Traditional bears was very hard to find at the time and so John, a product designer, was asked to create one.
Both he and Maude then made up one or two of his designs themselves and found so much interest in them that they then decided to start a workshop at their home.
A while later the business was moved to Littlebourne, near Canterbury.
They have made exclusive teddy bears for Laura Ashley, Liberty and even for the Tower of London.
